Home again

After almost two months overseas it was lovely to get back home. There were multiple fires raging in Victoria when we left and we wondered if that would happen here as it is just as dry. But luckily our house in the trees was still here and intact when we returned.

On our first early morning walk we were welcomed back by a Kookaburra and some magpies.

It was extremely hot here for much of the time we were away and being a timber house it must have become an oven. Look at the effect on these candles!

It will always amaze me how plant life survives in these hot, dry conditions. This palm has popped up in the middle of Glenn's working area outside the shed in just the time we've been away. It's about two to three feet high!

All over the block are bushes with this delicate bloom. Stunning!

When Glenn became interested in the wood pile, so did Woody.

It is full of termites!
I'm glad I blogged "Pond Life" because the pond life is now pond death. Everything dead. Gold fish, mosquito fish and yabbies. Such a shame. Our carers came as often as they could to top it up but it would seem there must be a leak.

Glenn went to put on his boots this morning that were on the front deck. He pushed his foot in one of them and felt something bulky and wet inside. Poor frog is hanging around waiting for the pond to refill. We'd better get right on to it!!
