Morning after rain
It started raining about four o'clock, yesterday afternoon. We've waited so long for some decent rain so it was exciting to watch the clouds forming during the morning and the weather front creep in slowly until the rain finally started falling. And yet, it was so still - no wind - the rain just coming straight down.
The birds went berserk! The black cockatoos went crazy up in the tree tops, squawking and flapping about like young children at the local pool on a hot day. Little tiny Silvereyes hopped madly around in the bushes catching insects and the twenty-eights were even noisier than they usually are, informing the world of the change in the weather, no doubt!
The rain washes the dust off the foliage and it darkens the tree bark bringing a new brightness and clarity to the bush scene.
There are bright diamond-like raindrops sitting on the leaves of bushes and trees everywhere, sparkling in the morning sunshine.
Where did these blooms appear from?? I don't think they were there yesterday!

December 11th
I chose to accept this mission and assuming the details on Wikipedia is correct, this is what I found:
Events
1936 - Edward VIII's abdication as King of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, etc, became effective.
My mother was 15 years old and this obviously had a marked affect on her because she remembered the 'abdication crisis' well and talked about it to us. (I was not a twinkle in anyone's eye at that stage!)
1972 - Apollo 17 became the sixth mission to land on the moon.
I was in my late teens and already had one marriage behind me. (Well, you just don't know how short life is going to be and I had another two to go!!)
Births
I am utterly honoured to share my birthday with Hamish Blake, Australian comedian. He is brilliant. One of those natural comedians who can keep you laughing without even trying.
Also, David Gates, lead singer of group, Bread. One of my favourite bands many moons ago.
Then, it would appear, according to the Wikipedia list, that not one but four Ice Hockey players share my birthday!! Good lord!! Have I missed something??
A Death
Dear Willie Rushton died on this day in 1996. What a character he must have been. He was co-founder of Private Eye and amongst other things appeared on I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue. If you haven't listened to this, then go to the BBC site and have a listen. Hilarious.
And last but not least... a holiday...
It's in Wales!! Remembrance Day of Llywelyn II - Well, who would ever have thought, eh?? I can't pronounce half the words in that little window of information so I'll leave it to anyone who can!!
There y'go Susan. I've done my homework!!
