Tuscany Oct 2011

We flew from London Gatwick to Pisa, looking down on snow-capped mountains on the way.
It really does lean!! A lot!!

This is the ceiling of our hotel room in Pisa. Michelangelo had obviously popped in for a bit of a practice before heading off to the Sistine Chapel.
Below is the Pisa Duomo (cathedral).

This is the Leaning Gill.

Next day we took a train to Florence (Firenze) and we could see the Ponte Vecchio from our hotel window.

There are lots of artists around the Uffizi Gallery, painting on the paving or sitting with easels.
The Ponte Vecchio is all shops - jewellery shops.

The very narrow streets means everyone travels on two wheels.

These would no doubt be American tourists.
The view from our hotel window.
We took a bus to Siena and it took us about 20minutes to walk to the Piazza Del Campo which is the town square. Just as we sat down at a cafe table there was a downpour. That was the only rain that fell during our five day trip.
We discovered in Pisa (or should I say Gill discovered) that you order "cafe latte" rather than "coffee" otherwise you get a cup of black liquid that blows one's head off!

Not only did we have another wonderful view from our B&B room window but Mick had popped in here also!!

Siena is a 800 year old walled city.

The Gaia Fountain in the Piazza Del Campo.

Gill browsing at the local supermarket.
Dinner at Il Campo on our last night in Italy.
